Asseco strengthens the cyber security area - ComCERT joins the Group

Asseco Poland has acquired a 69.01% stake in ComCERT. The company deals with the provision of cyber security services, including security monitoring and ICT threats detection. Thanks to the transaction, Asseco will expand and strengthen its competence in this area.

ComCERT is the first consulting company in Poland specializing in CERT (Computer Emergency Response Team) services for companies and institutions, not connected with any telecommunication operator. ComCERT experts analyze areas vulnerable to hacking attacks in customers' systems, support them during an incident and analyze the state of systems after an event. At the interconnection point of these three services, the company is also developing its clients' Security Operations Center teams - not only actively helping to maintain a high level of network security, but also expanding their competence.

Asseco offers years of experience in designing, developing and implementing cyber security applications, as well as providing and maintaining firmware solutions and implementing third-party software. Owing to the acquisition of ComCERT, we are expanding our expertise in cyber security consulting and strengthening our position in this market segment, said Zdzisław Wiater, Director of the International Organizations and Solutions for the Security Sector Division at Asseco Poland.

The incorporation of ComCERT into the Asseco Group is a result of higher sales dynamics in this sector. We have been observing increased interest in security not only on the domestic market but also abroad, mainly in Africa. Ultimately, the ComCERT team will be supported by the Asseco specialists' competences related to design and implementation of third party security solutions, said Andrzej Dopierała, Vice President of the Management Board, Asseco Poland.

We have been operating on the market since 2012 and are the first team providing CERT services, not connected with any telecommunication operator. We have also built one of the most experienced teams providing cyber security services on the Polish market. After joining the Asseco Group and thanks to the combined experience of Asseco and ComCERT experts, we will be able to reach a larger number of clients and implement even more demanding projects, said Tomasz Chlebowski, President of the Management Board, ComCERT.

Asseco has been developing dynamically in the cyber security area and carrying out interesting implementations in Poland and abroad. In 2018 alone, the revenues from this area reached the level of PLN 80 million. In March this year, it was announced that Asseco Data Systems (ADS), in cooperation with Asseco Poland and ComCERT, will launch "CyberDefenseAfrica" in the Togolese Republic - the first institution responsible for cyber security in this country. This cooperation will be carried out as part of a joint venture which ADS has created with the Togolese government. The new organization will start operating at the beginning of 2020 and the cost of the investment will amount to approximately EUR 14 million.
