Asseco gets an important contract from ARMA

The Agency for Restructuring and Modernization of Agriculture (ARMA) has signed an agreement with Asseco Poland for maintenance of their IT infrastructure. It is one of the largest contracts for such services in the public sector. It covers more than 300 locations across the country. The contract is worth nearly PLN 26 million (gross).

Asseco will be responsible for the provision of IT services in the fields of management, administration, monitoring, ongoing operation and maintenance of IT infrastructure and subsystems of ARMA. Within the ZUMA III project, Asseco will take care of the Internet access system, mass data storage and backup systems, electronic mail and LAN/WAN networks. It will also deal with the distribution of software. Moreover, the company will implement appropriate modifications in the IT infrastructure and subsystems, in accordance with the requirements of ARMA.

“We will be responsible for one of the most complex IT infrastructure maintenance projects in the public sector,” said Andrzej Dopierała, Vice President at Asseco Poland S.A. “Our task will be to ensure smooth operation of nearly 2 thousand devices, including servers, network infrastructure and data storage, which are used by 12 thousand employees working in more than 300 locations of ARMA. As we have a team of professionals with relevant experience and qualifications necessary for the implementation of such a large-scale undertaking, I am convinced this project will be a success,” he added.

ARMA is the largest paying agency implementing the Common Agricultural Policy of the European Union. The institution’s IT infrastructure utilizes a number of technologies in order to enable the operation of information systems used by its employees, and provide access to these systems for thousands of external users, including farmers, veterinary services and provincial governments. It can be also integrated with IT infrastructures of BGŻ Bank as well as cooperative banks, through which payments are made to beneficiaries.

“The Agency is currently adapting its information systems to support the new programming period, and properly and efficiently functioning infrastructure is the basis for all activities at the application layer,” said Witold Malina, Director of the Agriculture Division at Asseco Poland S.A. “In addition, ARMA is undergoing a technological change, including the adaptation of its IT systems to serve hundreds of thousands of farmers over the Internet, as well as the modernization of one of the major domains of Microsoft in Poland, allowing for modern processing of subsidies provided under the Common Agricultural Policy,” he added.

Asseco has extensive experience in the execution of projects involving the construction and maintenance of IT infrastructure. The company’s portfolio includes, among others, the development and implementation of nation-wide information systems, such as the Central Register of Vehicles and Drivers (CEPiK), Local Government Budget Management System (BeSTI@), as well as the border clearance system (ODPRAWA SG) for the National Border Guard Headquarters.
