Implementation of AMMS at the Regional Hospital in Opole

The Regional Hospital in Opole has signed an agreement with Asseco Poland for the implementation of Asseco Medical Management Solutions. The contract worth approx. PLN 747,000 gross is aimed at improving the functionality, availability and security of e-health services.

Under this project, Asseco Poland S.A. will supply and implement the Hospital Information System designed in multi-tier architecture, and render author’s supervision services. Asseco’s proprietary comprehensive solution – AMMS – will become the hospital’s core IT system.

The Regional Hospital in Opole is going to expand the functionality of the Hospital Information Portal with tele-consultation services and launch a repository for Electronic Medical Records. The AMMS system will allow doctors to access medical data from any place in the hospital, through the mHOSP application that has been prepared by Asseco for mobile tablet devices.

The project of expanding the functionality, availability and security of e-health services through the development of IT modules and their increased usage in the healthcare area is conducted in partnership with the Opole Oncology Center, Opole Regional Hospital and with the Specialist Mother and Child Healthcare Complex. The project is co-financed by the European Union from the European Regional Development Fund, under the Regional Operational Programme of Opole Province for the years 2007-2013.

Comprehensive AMMS (Asseco Medical Management Solutions) have been designed and developed following the global trends in both information technology and ergonomics. The solution features a number of improvements for the identification of patients, including registration of referrals with the help two-dimensional barcodes, retrieval of demographic data from identity documents, etc. The software developers have taken into account the legal requirements regarding Electronic Medical Records, under which all medical facilities are obliged to keep medical records in electronic form. The system also cooperates with the National Healthcare Fund application called eWUŚ which is used for electronic verification of the eligibility of beneficiaries. The AMMS solution greatly simplifies the process of verifying beneficiary’s eligibility and enables collective verification of patient rights without user intervention.

The application is accessible through a web browser. The personnel work is significantly facilitated by the ability to print and read doctor referrals in the encoded form (2D codes). Transmission of this type of referrals between medical institutions that use the same software eliminates the need of entering referral data manually. Such information is simply retrieved using 2D barcode readers that are supported by the AMMS system.

The AMMS system has been already implemented in more than 80 medical centers across Poland, including the Silesian Center for Heart Diseases in Zabrze, Silesian Rehabilitation Center in Ustronie, St. Barbara Regional Specialist Hospital No. 5 in Sosnowiec, Holy Spirit Specialist Hospital in Sandomierz, Intercard Ltd., Hospital Healthcare Centre in Kędzierzyn-Koźle, Hospital Healthcare Centre in Lębork, Hospital Healthcare Centre in Puławy, Regional Polyclinical Hospital in Kielce, Regional Psychiatric Hospital in Olsztyn, Pomeranian Toxicology Center, as well as at three hospitals in the capital city of Warsaw: Mazovian Hospital in Bródno, Holy Family Specialist Hospital, and Dr. Anna Gostyńska Hospital in Wola.
