Client

Volkswagen Bank GmbH Sp. z o.o. Oddział w Polsce (Volkswagen Bank) is a financial institution which provides banking services related to the purchase and operation of Volkswagen, Audi, SEAT, ŠKODA and Porsche cars, among others. It is a part of Volkswagen Financial Services (VFS), which also offers leasing services and service packages for individual and business customers. Many years of experience gained in foreign markets make financing vehicle purchases an area in which the bank is the best specialist. Not only does it guarantee professional service and safety of all transactions concluded, but it also focuses on constant improvement of the offer for its customers.

Challenge

Volkswagen Bank is a modern institution which focuses on constant improvement of the quality of services provided to its customers. It is also eager to innovate, through e.g. the Enterprise Banking Platform (Asseco EBP), an omnichannel business e-banking solution iplemented in 2019. The bank’s goal is to go fully digital, which is why it has decided to launch a mobile app in 2020 that would provide users with the same ease of managing their finances from their smartphone. It was to have the same functional scope as e-banking and allow for smooth adaptation to current and future customer needs. To carry out the project, Volkswagen Bank once again chose Asseco Poland, which was responsible for the implementation of the hybrid mobile application Asseco EBP.

Solution

The project began in May 2020 by defining requirements and preparing a work schedule to launch a mobile banking access channel via a mobile application. Another important part of the implementation was its seamless and quick replacement of the legacy solution called VWFS Mobile Token, which was used for transaction authorization.

However, the new hybrid application did not have to be designed from scratch. It could have been based on the Asseco EBP system already used by Volkswagen Bank. However, online banking, which is well known to customers, had to be moved to apps, preserving user habits, and taking into account the differences in user experience between mobile and desktop channels. It also required the bank’s entire product portfolio to be recreated within it, including but not limited to: account handling, transaction processing, deposit, loan and card management, and online application submission.

Key benefits

Thanks to the fully functional application, Volkswagen Bank customers gained mobile access to all banking services and the possibility to adjust the home screen and the functionality to their own needs or preferences. The intuitiveness and functionality of the app has made it possible for them to manage their finances in a safe and convenient way.

The new solution resulted in increased satisfaction of the existing Volkswagen Bank electronic banking users and created an opportunity to acquire new ones. Very positive reviews of the app resulted in as many as nearly 9,000 users using it at the end of May 2021.

The project has provided Volkswagen Bank with a modern tool that ensures that any modifications in the Asseco EBP system will automatically appear in the mobile channel. In this way, users gain access to the same functionality as in their online banking solution, and the bank saves time and costs associated with making additional changes to the application.
