Opole City Hall is continuing its program to build the Opole Fibre-Optic Information and Communication Network.This super-fast municipal network will serve all public institutions operating within the city.Asseco Poland is going to provide the necessary software, hardware and services. In 2015, public institutions located in Opole will be connected to a super-fast fiber-optic network called the Opole Fibre-Optic Information and Communication Network (OFICN). The network will be used by more than 30 schools, Opole University, Opole University of Technology, as well as by dozens of other institutions. It is worth mentioning that although OFICN is financed from the City Hall budget, it will serve not only the municipal organizations but also the regional ones. All of this is aimed at improving the quality of life for inhabitants.OFICN is a high-performance fiber-optic network featuring the Next Generation Network (NGN) / Next Generation Access (NGA) technologies, providing 10 Gbps connectivity among core nodes and 1 Gbps bandwidth for access nodes. It is one of the most modern solutions of this type in Poland.“Public institutions will be the first to see the results of this change.Local government bodies will be integrated with the municipal document management system.OFICN will enable a very fast exchange of data.For example, it will be possible to transfer an 800 MB file within just a few seconds, this is 10,000 times faster than using an internet connection with a speed of 2 Mbps.Once our servers are upgraded, we will be able to launch a central backup repository.OFICN will be certainly very useful for schools located in Opole, most of which do not have high-speed links,” said Jarosław Starszak, Head of IT Department atOpole City Hall.OFICN will be connected to the ultrafast nationwide Pioneer network, which is used for conducting research and development, among others, in the fields of information technology and telecommunications, aswell as for providing information society services. Opole University is one of 21 centers networked with Pioneer.OFICN will allow for the creation of special-purpose separate subnets, e.g. for the Crisis Management Center, educational institutions, libraries or hospitals. This will enable such user groups to use common databases and applications, exchange files, and collaborate while seeing each other online. All of this will facilitate the implementation of secure, centralized and more efficient solutions at a lower cost.“The approach demonstrated by the Opole local government is worthy of the 21^st century.Modern infrastructure lays a solid foundation for the introduction of most innovative solutions to serve the local community.We are pleased that more and more organizations in Poland are aware of this fact.We cooperate in the construction of broadband networks with multiple local governments.These include large urban centers, such as Radom, Elbląg or Ostrowiec Świętokrzyski, but also smaller, rural and urban municipalities which understand that modern infrastructure is the key to their development,” saidAndrzej Dopierała, Vice President of the Management Board of Asseco Poland.In the long term, the new network infrastructure will contribute significantly to improving the comfort of life of Opole inhabitants. Mobile applications will help find a free parking space. Intelligent traffic control will increase the level of road safety. It will be possible to manage the traffic lights centrally aswell as to predict the driving time based on the actual intensity of traffic. This will apply also to thepublic transportation.Moreover, the project will contribute to better safety by enhancing the coordination of municipal security services – OFICN can serve as a backbone for a separate network dedicated to the Crisis Management Center. It will allow for instant sharing of medical test results as well as for conducting consultations at a distance, including remote participation in a surgery. This will be enabled by transferring information directly from operating rooms, hence there will be a chance to consult particularly difficult cases with specialists from other cities.The project is co-financed in 85% from EU funds under the Regional Operational Programme of Opole Province for the years 2007-2013 – priority II “Information Society”, measure 2.1 “Infrastructure for theuse of ICT tools”. The first phase of the project implementation involved building 20 kilometres of fibre-optic network which linked together nearly 100 public institutions in Opole. The second stage will include the installation of active network devices such as switches or routers. The project is implemented comprehensively by Asseco Poland that has been selected in a tendering procedure. Thecompany will construct and launch the NGN/NGA network, provide network management software, as well as train network administrators. The project will be executed under the agreement concluded between Asseco Poland and Opole City Hall, with a gross value of approx. PLN 7.9 million. Thecompletion of work is expected in October 2014.

The Municipal Hospital in Zabrze will carry out informatization based on IT solutions delivered by Asseco Poland.The project aims to improve the comfort of patients through the introduction of modern technologies for daily operations of the medical facility.The contract value is approximately PLN 3 million gross. Development of e-services at Zabrze hospital will be possible thanks to the implementation of comprehensive IT system called Asseco Medical Management Solutions (AMMS). The project will include over a dozen software modules providing specialized functionalities to support patient admissions and discharges, outpatient clinic, operating block, laboratories and diagnostic workshops, rehabilitation ward, as well as the hospital pharmacy. The system will also facilitate the exchange of information between the hospital’s medical and administrative sections. Moreover, managerial staff at the hospital will obtain a new tool enabling effective management of the facility on the basis of sophisticated analyses.This complex informatization project will also enable the introduction of Electronic Health Records. Hence, the Hospital in Zabrze will be ready to keep and share medical records in electronic form within the regulatory deadline, this is from 2017.Digitization of the medical treatment process will also facilitate the work of doctors who, being equipped with clinical tablets, will be able to order medical procedures and access test results basically from any place within the hospital. This is a significant improvement considering that the total number of beds located at the eight hospital wards exceeds 400.The project is co-financed by the European Regional Development Fund, under the Regional Operational Programme of Silesia for the years 2007-2013. The Hospital in Zabrze is not the only medical facility in Silesia that has chosen to use the AMMS solution. In July 2014, the implementation of this system hasbeen started at the State Hospital for the Mentally Ill in Rybnik as well as at the Municipal Polyclinic Hospital in Częstochowa.

The consortium of Netology and Asseco Poland will carry out a complete informatization of the State Hospital for the Mentally Ill in Rybnik.The total contract value exceeds PLN 4.6 million gross. The State Hospital for the Mentally Ill in Rybnik is the largest medical facility of this type in its region. Ithouses more than 900 beds and operates 20 hospital wards, including the intensive treatment of alcohol addictions. So far the hospital has used only basic IT systems necessary for settlements with theNational Healthcare Fund as well as for administration of its operations. Having been granted funds from the Silesian Marshal’s Office under the Regional Operational Programme, the hospital conducted atender procedure for the modernization of its information and telecommunications infrastructure and implementation of an IT system.According to the agreement, Netology, acting as the consortium leader, will supply hardware infrastructure, whereas Asseco will implement its proprietary Asseco Medical Management Solutions. This comprehensive IT system will support the processes within patient admissions and discharges, hospital pharmacy, ward medicine cabinets, as well as outpatient clinic and specialized laboratories. Another important part of the project is to launch the Business Intelligence analytical module that will enable effective hospital management based on the results of multivariate analyses. Moreover, the hospital will deploy the Electronic Health Records. All the project work will be completed till the end of February 2015.The comprehensive Asseco Medical Management Solutions have been implemented already in more than 100 healthcare facilities. Thanks to full integration of the health information functionality and administrative functionality, the system provides doctors with access to complete medical records of patients, from anywhere in the hospital. This includes all hospitalized patients as well as outpatients.

Asseco Poland will implement an IT system at the Municipal Polyclinic Hospital in Częstochowa. The implementation will include Asseco Medical Management Solutions which are dedicated for healthcare facilities. The Company will also launch Electronic Health Records and a Management Information System, supply computer hardware, and train the hospital’s staff. The contract worth over PLN 1.9 million has been concluded following an open tender. The project will be completed in May 2015.The Municipal Polyclinic Hospital in Częstochowa has contracted Asseco Poland to implement its Asseco Medical Management Solutions (AMMS) dedicated to the healthcare sector, supply computer hardware including clinical tablets, and train the hospital’s staff. AMMS is going to be integrated with legacy radiology and laboratory systems.This project will significantly increase the scope of the hospital’s informatization, helping to optimize theflow of information and reduce operating costs. It will also involve launching a process of data exchange between AMMS modules and software applications used by the hospital’s administrative departments. Another important element will be the Management Information System that will enable the hospital’s managerial staff to monitor its financial results on a daily basis. MIS will also support the analysis of medical statistics as well as control of the hospital’s settlements with the National Healthcare Fund. It will, for example, inform to what extent the executed medical services have been already invoiced.In addition, doctors will be provided with access to medical records basically from any place in thehospital. This will be enabled by the mHOSP mobile application to be installed on clinical tablets. Byusing this solution, doctors will be able to order medical procedures regardless of where they are currently located, and information about such request, along with the patient details, will be delivered to the appropriate treatment room or laboratory.Another important element of the project is to launch Electronic Medical Records which, in accordance with the applicable regulations, must be implemented in all medical facilities by the middle of 2017.

On 24 July, Plus mobile operator launched a freshly redesigned version of its online store. The implementation was conducted by Asseco’s Telecommunications and Media Division. The effects can be seen on www.plus.plThe portal features a simple structure, intuitive navigation and an elegant visual layout. It has been designed in accordance with the RWD (Responsive Web Design) guidelines. The appearance, functionality and layout of individual pages adapt automatically to the screen size of the device that is used to access the portal. Websites developed using this technique are universal and clearly present their contents on the screens of computers, tablets or smartphones.This project was quite a challenge for Asseco Poland as it involved a wide range of tasks (complete system development, from analysis of requirements to implementation) and a very demanding work schedule. For this reason the project has been divided into two stages.“In the first stage, we delivered just the online store featuring several forms to run on the ‘old’ portal.At this stage the store supported just basic sales processes. Implementation of this phase provided the client’s business with the necessary sales tools, while we got to know how demanding it was to conduct all the required test procedures, as well as to implement and maintain this system. In parallel with the first stage testing, we commenced the second phase work. At that time, it turned out that, in addition to functional requirements, the client expects us to improve the store’s visual layout. We assigned this task to Divante agency,” says Szymon Marzec, Project Manager at Asseco’s Telecommunications and Media Division.“The new website of Plus is not just a refreshed version of its former appearance.The portal structure has been completely redesigned, and now the users are provided with a number of facilities allowing them to match our offering to their specific needs,” says Paweł Wróbel, Vice Director for Management of Portal Offering and Internet Sales at Plus. “The new graphic design should satisfy even the most demanding Internet users, while the portal functionality will surely meet the needs and expectations of our customers,” he adds.

Asseco Poland has successfully implemented the IBM Cognos Express solution to support analytics and Big Data at the Regional Blood Donation and Hemotherapy Center in Bydgoszcz. The system implementation helped increase the number of blood donors by 10 percent! This is another successful project of Asseco, after helping the blood centers in Warsaw and Łodź.Asseco Poland’s Healthcare Systems Division has completed the implementation of IBM software for business intelligence and predictive analytics at the Regional Blood Donation and Hemotherapy Center (RBDHC) in Bydgoszcz. This supports the institution in planning more effective campaigns to promote blood donation. Asseco’s task was to supply software along with the necessary hardware infrastructure matched to the client’s specific needs. Theproject also involved mapping of databases available at RBDHC, as well as development of reports and full documentation. Currently, Asseco provides support for individual users engaged in data analysis at the Center.The implemented IBM Cognos Express is a comprehensive component-based solution for intelligent data analysis and planning, dedicated primarily to midsize organizations. RBDHC chose to implement IBM Cognos Express Reporter, which provides quick access to statistical data, self-service reporting, and many other capabilities. As a result, employees at RBDHC in Bydgoszcz obtain full knowledge of the structure blood donation in the region, including information on blood groups, age distribution, etc.In Poland, blood donation is based on honorary donors, that is people who donate blood for free. The process is carried out through a network of centers, such as RBDHC in Bydgoszcz, which qualify potential donors, collect blood, store it and supply it to healthcare facilities. They are also responsible for taking actions to promote blood donation.“With this new data processing software, we are able not only to analyze data from a historical perspective, but also prepare forecasts. For us it is a very important functionality because it helps us in organizing promotional campaigns and collecting blood,” says Jacek Południak of RBDHC in Bydgoszcz. “Following this implementation, the number of donor applications increased by about 10 percent,” he adds.Thanks to the predictive functionality, RBDHC in Bydgoszcz can predict the months of greater demand for blood or higher number of donors, as well as when to launch appropriate promotional actions. They are also better able to identify the areas or persons to whom such campaigns should be addressed. Importantly, the collected data and forecasts allow for personalization of activities, including the distribution of invitations through SMS messages and e-mails. The software also supports the operation of the so-called blood busses, that is mobile blood collection points. Based on the analysis of historical data, system operators know when and where to send such vehicles and can analyze all the data gathered during such trips.
