System for Regional Blood Donation and Transfusion Centers
Blood Bank is a system for Regional Blood Donation and Transfusion Centers. Its main task is to improve the organizational processes of collecting, producing and transfusing blood and blood derivatives, in order to provide the ill with suitable substances in a fast and carefully planned manner, ensuring the right amount and the right type of each substance.

Functionality
The Blood Bank system enables:
creating a “Regional Blood Donor Register,” which allows to:
quickly search donors with rare antigen combinations
unify the donor registering system
provide examination results obtained in one blood donation point or station in all other computerized locations
create a register of people, who cannot donate blood for health reasons
facilitate planned summoning of donors
eliminate repeating serological tests on the same person
improving management of blood and blood derivatives, especially by:
obtaining information on the condition and type of blood at all blood donation points that are connected to the computer system
controlling the condition and stock of blood in hospital wards
ensuring connection between the blood donor and blood recipient in the database
increasing report reliability
creating a “Recipient Register” that enables choosing the right blood for a patient faster, and easily reviewing the results of previous examinations
directly connecting diagnostic apparatus to a computer, thus eliminating any potential errors during manual examination result entering
introducing a barcode system in order to eliminate data entry errors and accelerate the entire procedure
collecting statistical data and analyzing it to support making decisions on long-term activities related to blood treatment and blood service organization

Asseco invited health care services representatives to its Partnership for Health conference for the 9th time. There were 275 attendees, primarily members of the management boards and directors from 220 hospitals in Poland. The conference was also attended by representatives of the Ministry of Health, the National Health Fund, and the National Center for Health Information Systems (NCHIS).
Asseco Poland has successfully implemented the IBM Cognos Express solution to support analytics and Big Data at the Regional Blood Donation and Hemotherapy Center in Bydgoszcz. The system implementation helped increase the number of blood donors by 10 percent! This is another successful project of Asseco, after helping the blood centers in Warsaw and Łodź.
