The acquisition of Insseco by Sapiens is a consequence of the development strategy pursued by Asseco Group that assumes building a strong market position in individual sectors of the economy, including insurance, banking, utilities, and healthcare. Sapiens is a leading global provider of software solutions for the insurance industry, it is listed on NASDAQ and is a subsidiary of Asseco Group. The conducted transaction will enable Asseco Group to develop a commercial insurance product and competence center operating within the company of Sapiens. For Sapiens, which is a part of Asseco Group, this agreement is an opportunity to expand its operations into another market as well as to develop its business in the European insurance sector. By entering into the Polish market, and indirectly into Central Europe, Sapiens will gain access to further resources of highly qualified IT specialists, allowing to reduce its software production and development costs.
At present, the share capital of Insseco equals PLN 4.6 million. The total consideration for the acquisition of control and acquisition of 100 percent of shares in Insseco, transfer of property rights as well as selected projects shall amount to PLN 34.3 million. Asseco Poland shall be also entitled to receive additional consideration if revenues generated by Insseco during the course of 5 years are higher than estimated on the transaction date. The transaction is expected to be closed by early August 2015.
Today, Insseco employs 140 IT specialists and its business is focused on the provision of services and development of software solutions for the commercial insurance industry. The company provides support in this area to miscellaneous customers of Asseco Poland based both in Poland and abroad. From the beginning of its operations, Insseco has been engaged in close cooperation with Sapiens. Apart from projects carried out in Poland, Insseco’s specialists have been recently involved in the implementation of projects executed by Sapiens across Europe.

Cooperation with Asseco is an element of the project of digitization of the Psychiatric Hospital in Toszek which is aimed at improving the quality and availability of medical services provided by this healthcare center. The project will include the implementation of Asseco Medical Management Solutions (AMMS). This IT solution will enable the use of electronic medical records as well as offer many other functions. Moreover, Asseco has been contracted to supply and launch servers, matrices as well as the required computer hardware.“Once the AMMS system is successfully implemented, the Hospital in Toszek will be provided with a useful tool allowing not only to register patients online, but also ensuring the security of medical records, and contributing to the efficient management of this complex healthcare center,” said Jarosław Kończyło, Vice Commercial Director at Asseco Poland. “It is the key stage of computerization of the hospital, allowing it to satisfy the requirements imposed by the healthcare informatization act as well as to perform up to patient expectations,” he added.As part of the project, Asseco will provide a number of software modules intended to support daily operations at the hospital’s admissions office, outpatient clinic, pharmacy, laboratory and administrative department. The Hospital in Toszek has joined the group of 60 medical facilities located in Silesia that have chosen to use Asseco’s software. IT solutions offered by this Rzeszów-based company are utilized by over 430 hospitals across Poland.
AMMS is a comprehensive IT solution dedicated to large and medium-sized hospitals, polyclinics, medical centers, outpatient clinics and emergency departments. The solution provides support for the hospital’s medical departments (HIS) and administrative departments (ERP). AMMS features a number of functionalities for the identification of patients, including registration of referrals with the help two-dimensional barcodes, as well as retrieval of patient data from identity documents. It also enables printing and reading of doctor referrals in the encoded form. Transmission of such documents in electronic format between different medical centers reduces the time of patient registration and admission, while eliminating errors that might occur due to incorrect reading of handwriting.

Asseco has once again become the number 1 in the category of software and hardware producers according to the Book of Lists. It is already the 20th edition of the annual report published by Warsaw Business Journal. The ranking has been prepared on the basis of sales revenues generated by companies in 2014. The report contains information on more than 1600 companies included in 69 rankings and grouped into 9 business sectors.

The newly established laboratory will serve as the venue for common undertakings of Asseco and Rzeszów University of Technology, including teaching activities, preparation of diploma theses, research work, presentations and conferences. It has been furnished with 12 computer stations, 8 additional workstations, own servers and equipment for presentations. “I hope that our cooperation will not only contribute to the professional preparation of our students for taking up work in the IT industry, but also enable the implementation of innovative engineering education, which today should be focused on specific problems and based on carrying out projects and research. The laboratory operating under the auspices of Asseco will be able to educate high quality software developers and analysts. We also intend to apply for and implement joint projects financed from EU or national funds. I am convinced this cooperation will be beneficial for both the parties and it is also in line with the current development strategy of our region,” said Grzegorz Masłowski, PhD, Professor at Rzeszów University of Technology, Dean of the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science.At this laboratory, the university provides the second edition of the “Enterprise-class information systems” program. The course, consisting of lectures and classes, is taught by a highly experienced IT specialist of Asseco. This way students are able to acquire unique knowledge and skills as well as get to know the company. The first edition of the program was completed by 17 persons, 3 of which are currently employed by Asseco. Only in 2014, Asseco took on 17 students of Rzeszów University of Technology for an internship or a training practice and subsequently entered into further cooperation with 6 of them. “We operate in a sector where innovation and continuous development decide about to be or not to be. That is why we continue to look for young and talented people who are not afraid of facing challenges and want to get involved in technologically advanced projects,” said Zbigniew Krzysztoń, Human Resources Director at Asseco Poland. “Cooperation with universities allows us to establish contact with students and show them what we do. Many of them are given a chance to take up an internship or a training practice at our company and, since the last year, 102 persons decided to do so. Over 20 percent of them have been already employed by Asseco,” he added.Asseco provides students with an opportunity to implement their diploma theses in a commercial environment. Such activities are aimed at identifying and activating the best students. The company is also engaged in research work together with research and teaching staff and doctoral students, which is consistent with its R&D strategy.

Asseco will be responsible for the supply and implementation of its proprietary Asseco Medical Management Solutions (AMMS) at the Province Hospital (Karol Marcinkowski Independent Public Healthcare Center) in Zielona Góra. The IT system will support the execution of processes within patient admissions and discharges, hospital pharmacy, ward dispensaries, surgical blocks, as well as diagnostic laboratories. The project will also involve preparing the Repository of Electronic Medical Records and providing the hospital employees with access to the system via a dedicated application for mobile devices. Furthermore, the hospital will be equipped with software tools allowing for the evaluation of medical procedures and calculation of treatment costs. The designed solution will also enable electronic communication with patients and partners (e-patient and e-contractor). The contract shall be completed by the end of May 2017.During the AMMS system implementation stage, the hospital personnel will have an opportunity to train by e learning. Thanks to the e-learning platform, nearly 1000 persons will be able to learn how to operate the system over the Internet.“Asseco has a lot of experience in the provision of e-learning trainings,” said Andrzej Motkowski, Senior Sales Manager at Asseco Poland. “This year alone, that form of training was chosen by 29 medical centers, to be provided for over 16 thousand participants in total. This method is increasingly recognized by hospitals as a very effective and efficient complementation to the traditional system implementation process,” he added.The Province Hospital in Zielona Góra is the ninth medical facility in the Lubuskie Province that has entered into cooperation with Asseco. On a national scale, the company has already implemented or is now implementing IT projects for more than 400 healthcare centers.

Asseco has again been included in the 500 List compiled by Rzeczpospolita daily, which presents the largest Polish companies from all sectors of the economy (by sales revenues). In this year’s edition of the ranking Asseco took the 41st place. Rzeczpospolita also prepared a comparison of the current 500 List with its counterpart of 2005, showing Asseco among the top 10 companies that recorded the highest growth in revenues over the past decade.
